about

Presenting a collection of performances using ancient and modern wind instruments as expressively played by woodwind artist James Wilson.

Wind instruments heard include the Shakuhachi flute (6th century Japan), and the Bansuri (200 B.C.) The Bansuri flute, an exceptionally expressive and sonorous instrument, is found in many parts of India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, and is a musical instrument that is common in the North Indian or Hindustani classical music.

James also plays the soprano saxophone, a relatively recent/modern wind instrument, most often heard in American jazz, exemplified by such soprano sax players as John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, and Kenny G.

Most compositions are originals written by James Wilson and noted as such under each track.
